As promised, after hitting £1000, Patrick Looby, the youngest and quite frankly the most easily led member of the Looby clan, will be having both his legs waxed to celebrate reaching our target amount.

The original plan was to book him in for a leg wax and have it videoed for our own personal amusement, but Patrick would much rather it wasn’t done in such a lovely way. No. He has requested that it hurt much more!

As a result, I have employed the help of our sister Amanda to help wax his legs with me. So, that’s two Looby sister’s with no professional knowledge of waxing, waxing the youngest brother’s extremely hairy legs!

What’s more, we may even let the kids have a go!

Keep an eye out for the video on Saturday and don’t forget, it’s not too late to donate!

Grahame finished his run in a respectable 5 hours and 6 minutes. On the way, he had the crowd cheering his name and was fed jelly babies and lucozade.

There were plenty of people waiting for him along the race route but spotting him was a pretty hard feat!

At mile 18 he was greeted by Nicola and her aunt who were scanning through the crowds to see him. He was doing really well. We were waiting for him a little further on along the course.

When we eventually did spot him out of the 36,000 runners at mile 24, he very nearly jogged right past us. The crowd was so loud and the sound of the brass band was overbearing. Thankfully he didn’t, and instead he walked up to us and reassured us that he was coping well.

At the finish line, he was rather emotional. It was a long, hard journey that he will be feeling the effects of for a few days. Nonetheless, it has been a great personal achievement for him and he has raised a great amount of money for the children in the Phoenix centre.

Here he is proudly showing off his medal. Will continue to update the website for the next couple of weeks as we wax Patrick’s legs and continue to count all our donations!

Thanks to everyone for their support!

Gearing up for the final few days of training, Grahame has been running his big smelly feet off in preparation. He completed his longest run yet, 18 miles yesterday, but quickly found he was running out of land!

He ran through St Aubin’s twice, scaring the locals with his sunburnt face and his famous ill fitting Lycra. 18 miles was no easy feat though, he says after mile 17 he literally felt like he was hitting a brick wall. He couldn’t breathe and the blisters were very painful.

I know Grahame’s been training very hard recently, but as his supportive little sister, I thought right now is the best time to share a few words of wisdom with him.

‘Remember bro, this is a RACE, there will be winners and losers. I expect you to win, first across the line or else I’m sending your christmas present to Oxfam this year.’

Thank you so much to everyone who has donated so far.

Maybe I speak for myself, but I know I can’t do anything for two hours and thirty five minutes, let alone running!

Still, he has got to work himself up for the longer runs, 14 miles is good but the race itself is 26.2 miles long. Having spoke to him, he says that 3 mile runs are easy (well he said they are a piece of ‘an adult word that I can’t possibly repeat’) but it’s after the tenth mile his legs start to go wobbly and the hard work kicks in.

It will be at this point we will have to follow him with a blowtorch or something….
