Grahame finished his run in a respectable 5 hours and 6 minutes. On the way, he had the crowd cheering his name and was fed jelly babies and lucozade.
There were plenty of people waiting for him along the race route but spotting him was a pretty hard feat!
At mile 18 he was greeted by Nicola and her aunt who were scanning through the crowds to see him. He was doing really well. We were waiting for him a little further on along the course.
When we eventually did spot him out of the 36,000 runners at mile 24, he very nearly jogged right past us. The crowd was so loud and the sound of the brass band was overbearing. Thankfully he didn’t, and instead he walked up to us and reassured us that he was coping well.
At the finish line, he was rather emotional. It was a long, hard journey that he will be feeling the effects of for a few days. Nonetheless, it has been a great personal achievement for him and he has raised a great amount of money for the children in the Phoenix centre.
Here he is proudly showing off his medal. Will continue to update the website for the next couple of weeks as we wax Patrick’s legs and continue to count all our donations!
Thanks to everyone for their support!
